The HandySitt is the ultimate in portable highchairs. Children can enjoy sitting at an ideal height to the table. Safe and secure for all activities and included in the family group. Remember that your children will do many more things sitting at the table than just eat. A highchair that enables your child to use the table to play, draw, and paint, as well as eat with the family, makes so much sense.
The quality and clever Danish design are obvious, but the value is also critical for Australian families. The HandySitt suits children aged 7 months to 4 ½ years, so for 4 years, and several times a day, you will use it both at home and out. Because it is made from timber, it is strong and sturdy and you will not hesitate taking it with you. The fact that some babies can sit up earlier than 7 months and some children will still be comfortable in the HandySitt at the age of 5 or more (because it doesn’t look childish, older children are happy to keep using it), means you get fantastic value for money. But most importantly of all, it will give you years of enjoyment with your children.
The HandySitt is made in Denmark by The HandySitt Company (formerly Wonderworld A/S). The HandySitt Company’s philosophy is to not compromise on design, quality or safety. The HandySitt has been developed for children – to allow them to sit at the same level and in the same circle as the adults around them, making them feel included and strengthening the bond between them and their parents.
Scandinavian design and beauty in furnishings is world famous and our products are no exception. The HandySitt is for discerning parents who like to choose lasting quality furniture that fits even the most modern home, or where space is an issue. |

When a little
baby is born, it has for nine months been used to the swaying
movements from the mother. These movements have soothed the
baby, stimulated its senses and given it optimal conditions
for intellectual growth. After birth, the soft and slow rhythm
of the swaying has been programmed into its cells as being
safe and comforting. The desire for the swaying rhythm never
leaves us. We cradle the baby in our arms and we carry it
in a sling. It falls asleep to the movements of the pram or
the car and later the swing in the park takes them all the
way to the sky. When we grow up, it is still part of life
as we listen or dance to music, or as we enjoy watching the
waves reach the beach. To sway is to feel secure and alive.
The idea of the Leander Cradle came to life,
as designer Stig Leander Nielsen’s sister-in-law expected
twins. While she was feeding one twin, the other also needed
to feel safe and secure. The Cradle proved a great help. The
sister-in-law, who is a health nurse, loved the idea and could
see the need for a modern cradle that could meet the expectations
of the latest knowledge regarding infants.
In Denmark and Northern Europe, where the Cradle
came onto the market in mid-2002, it has been highly sought
after both from parents and institutions working with premature
babies. Professionals agree, that the swaying motions of this
single point suspended cradle, give both security and stimulation
of the senses.
The Cradle is not a new invention but the Leander
Cradle combines design and function in a new and interesting
way. The simple and sculptural design is beautiful and of
the highest quality as well as very practical. It takes the
traditional cradle into the new millennium; timeless and modern.
The Leander Cradle excels by having several applications.
It can be suspended from a hook in the ceiling or in a tripod
which allows you to move it around the house. The tripod as
well as the fabric canopy are accessories. When unclipped,
the Cradle can be used as a mobile bed.
The baby’s safety is a priority. The
fabric and the mattress are made of allergy tested cotton
and are machine washable at 60 degrees Celsius. The oval shape
has no sharp edges and the fabric is soft to the touch
Stig Nielsen says: “It is important to
me to create high quality products at reasonable prices because
I strongly believe that quality enhances the joy of living.
A cradle can obviously not replace the parents’ physical
contact with their child but I hope, it can be a great help
in their busy lives.” |

- Beautiful, simple and functional
- Follows the progression from baby to toddler to child
- From cot to junior bed (150cm)
- One purchase - 5 options
- A growing child's dream
The Leander bed is different from anything else on the market. It has been designed with the child’s perspective in mind, and the result is a stunning looking cot which converts into a junior bed via stages. The junior bed concept is not new, but the fact that this junior bed looks like a small adult’s bed is new, and the fact that the bed is low to the ground to suit small legs is also unusual.
Stig Leander Nielsen, the designer, says: ”I wanted to create a child’s bed, the Leander Bed, as a natural extension to the idea behind the Leander cradle. It annoys me that children’s beds are so traditional, not taking the needs of the children into account. That’s why I wanted to combine practicality of use with simple design language. We develop our products at the level of the child and experience the world through our little ones’ need for comfort and development.”
Initially, the cot base can be raised to protect the parents’ back. It is then dropped down to base level to ensure that the mobile baby is safe. As baby turns into a toddler with greater freedom to move, the first Leander bed adaptation takes place: one of the cot sides come off. The child still has the familiar feeling of security of the high sides, it has known since birth but can now climb in and out by itself. |
|
As the child’s development progresses, the other three sides come off (all together) and the cot is now a small bed. The child’s growth in height will tell you when to extend the Leander Bed into the junior bed (150cm long). The extension pieces required are part of your initial purchase, so there is no more to buy.
The Leander Bed takes the tradition of Scandinavian craftsmanship and design to a new level of excellence. With its oval shape, carved in Scandinavian beech, the bed is a sheer pleasure to the eye. The mattress consists of ventilated cold foam with a cover of ecotex-treated quilted cotton. The cover has been through a special hypoallergenic process and is washable at 60 degrees C. Protection mattresses and fitted sheets are available for both cot and junior bed size.
The Leander Bed has won several awards in Europe and the demand for it, can best be expressed by the fact that Leanderform has had to start their own manufacturing plant. No existing furniture maker in Europe could produce both the quality and the quantity required. This initial shortfall in supply is also the reason why the Leander Bed was not introduced in Australia until the middle of 2006. We have no doubt that it will be as great a success here as it has been everywhere else |
