The grade of silicone Mioplay uses in their products is 100% non-toxic and antibacterial. Natural rubbers commonly seen in infant teething products do not possess the same special properties as silicones. These natural rubber products cannot withstand extreme high temperatures without breakdown down, this includes placing in a dishwasher, steriliser or boiling. In addition, the chemical bonds in Natural Rubber break down when exposed to UV light. This means that over time the product will slowly degrade creating small holes in the surface of the product where bacteria can grow. This is especially a concern for hollow toys; where by a small hole in the surface of the toy could result in bacteria entering the inside of the product where is cannot be cleaned.
