Riding a scooter to playgroup, kindergarten, or daycare is not only fun, but also a great way to give children an active start to the day. To ensure the journey is safe and stress-free, here are five valuable tips to keep your child safe and well prepared:

1. Put on safety equipment
Safety is the top priority. A well-fitting helmet is a must for every scooter ride. Knee and elbow pads offer additional protection, especially for younger children or beginners. Make sure the protective equipment fits comfortably and does not slip.
2. Increase visibility in road traffic
Good visibility is particularly important so children can be recognised early in traffic. Reflective clothing, bright colours, and fluorescent strips can help ensure they are visible even in poor lighting conditions. Additional lighting on the scooter or helmet, such as small LED lights, further increases safety.
Tip: All our helmets have an LED light on the back, so your child is clearly visible even in poor weather conditions or at dusk.
3. Choose safe routes
Plan a route in advance that avoids busy roads where possible. Bicycle paths, sidewalks, or quiet residential streets are best. If crossing roads is unavoidable, explain and practise the most important traffic rules and correct behaviour at crossings with your children.
Tip: Test the route together in advance to identify potential hazards and find alternative paths.

4. Start early enough
Rushing can reduce attention and increase the risk of accidents. Allow enough time so children can travel to their destination without stress. A relaxed journey not only improves safety but also makes the experience more enjoyable.
Tip: Turn the journey into a ritual, for example, by singing a song together or stopping briefly at a favourite place.
With a little planning and preparation, travelling by scooter is not only safe but also great fun for the whole family. By focusing on the right equipment, safe routes, and proactive behaviour, you can give your children an active and positive start to the day.
